These are just some general tips for new or older players that I'm just listing off in no particular order. Thanks to this subreddit, I have discovered these little tricks. Please if you have anything to add I'll edit it in. Mainly want to put things here that are not already covered in detail in the other FAQ's. If so my aplogies. About me: Been playing about over 6 months, lvl 79, just hit over 800k power on S1 Union Cave, no VIP but eventually want to VIP3 with Month/Prime card for $15 or whatever it is. My best Pokemon is still basically a flashed CharX, Giratina, Non Mega Amphoros (with Zapdos/Snorlax/Dragonite/Electivire/Sceptile/Moltres on the side). Not PVP oriented but enjoy playing Pokemon. I'm enjoying grinding in this game as a free player so I hope this info helps. Also maybe this can be added to the side bar? Thanks. In the main hub world the 4 Pillars of Eternity or the best trainers of your server are shown. When selected they can be "liked" which in turn gives you 10k a piece = 40k gold, half of which can be donated to your guild. :)
In Head on Battle, when you go to the rank tab you can "worship" any three trainers for 10 VIT a piece.
You can receive VIT from 15 friends, send out your VIT as well. (Make sure to repeat these three things once every 24 hours after server resets)
You may not know this either, but in Fated Enemy if you tap in between your rival and your avatar where the swords cross (giggity) you can face your opponent head on against his three best monsters. This can be done three times (you can challenge more after but it's pointless) In my case I always lose this battle (my rival is 200k power ahead of me) but you receive rewards regardless such as gold, friendship items even diamonds (like 2-5). Do you get better items if you win? I don't recall since I have had the same rival for over 69 DAYS.
Which medal should I use? Torrent - Recommended for World Boss and Monster Riot - Possibly the best of all the Medals. Great ability (Damage and decrease attack), great stat boosts (percentage increases in most of the best stats). Some players argue the DEF/SP DEF increases are better. Heal – Recommended for Adventure - Great ability (heal and clear status effects), bad stat boosts (fixed value increases) Guardian – Recommended for PvP - Bad ability (SP DEF boost isn’t be useful if you fight P Attackers), but great stat boosts (percentage increases for the best stats) Shield - Recommended for PvP - Basically the same as Guardian, but SP DEF boost instead of DEF. Unless the top players in your server mostly use SP ATK monsters, Guardian is probably the better option since it is easier to get Guardian shards to level up the Medal. Blaze – not recommended unless you already have it maxed - Basically the same as the Torrent Medal, but no Speed boost, and Speed is probably the most important stat for this game. Great ability (Damage and decrease attack), okay stat boosts (percentage increases, but not the best stats).
If you hit the Task button on the main screen, it removes the hud, this doesn't really add anything but I just found this out. Talk to an NPC to get it back. You can quit your current guild by tapping your corner profile icon, hitting overview and selecting "quit".
No, you're guild tech progress will not reset, and will continue once you wait the allowed time and join a new guild.
Don't forget to receive any rented pokemon gold before quitting (as well as checking Guild Bosses).
I don't want to get into strategy for diamond consumption/VIP as that's not really my forte, but refrain from spending diamonds on 10 advance pulls as the % chance of getting a legendary is low. (Though this will increase your Book/Explorer Biography with other monsters occasionally) Even using them during events where you get 10 Monster shards a purchase is sometimes not recommended as it's cheaper to spend diamonds on Monster shards from Package events (from what I have read here on this subreddit ;) In general Just save up your diamonds for Legendaries you really want. You'll need 10's of thousands. This may seem confusing to newer players but these are the general six attributes in the game for each Pokemon: * HP or Health Points, Special Attack (SP.Attack), Physical Attack (P.Attack or shown as Attack), Special Defense (SP.Defense), Physical Defense (P.Defense or shown as Defense) and Speed (SPD). There is also Critical, Dodge, Resilience (Damage Reduction), and Hit (Accuracy). The last four passives are only applied through Medals (unless a Pokemon has such an attribute boosted through it's skills, is that a thing yet?) The first six may appear differently depending on where you see it in game (just bad translation in general). If you try to flash a pokemon it asks you "Wanna chooce this monster?" -___- Contrary to popular belief (maybe it was just me, I'm dumb), one does not need to collect both total amount of Poke shards and total Monster (ex Mew) shards to unlock a Mew. You only need to have one or the other. Logically save the Poke shards towards the Legendary you really want.
In the top left corner of the Shards screen you can convert your unwanted Monster shards towards Poke shards. As a non VIP player I will (if lucky) get Poke shards from Gym challenge, or Battle Tower boxes. I get monster shards like Lucario and Articuno from Monster League. You can buy a single Arceus (200 total) shard daily from the store for 100 battle coins from HoB). Once you receive him, you basically get 1 Poke shard for a small amount of currency daily. Wish I knew this info earlier as I would have Arceus already. :P Also if you break through the top 200 in HoB you'll receive at least one Arceus shard daily as well.
Once you're SHARD you're ready to unlock a monster (puns) make sure it has the appropriate personality before doing so. Check whether it uses Sp.Attack or P.Attack, if it's passive(s) buffs Speed, Sp.Defense or P.Defense etc. in its skill list. For more on personality check the "getting stronger" FAQ as well as: https://www.reddit.com/PokelandLegends/comments/5b9otl/as_a_non_vip_player_is_this_electivire_worth/d9n34w1/. If the personality is not good or good enough for you, simply wait 24 hours for a reset or if you're impatient, hit the yellow reset button under "Total Particular Value" and spend 50 diamonds. I'd wait.
This may apply to newer players (due to weaker starting monsters), but when battling a Lair Hunt monster (a friend or your own) just participating will give you credit for awards (if it's killed in the 2 hour window.) The challenge crystals refresh at a decent rate, and you can immediately quit the battle to jump over to another lair monster before it's defeated/missed. This is a useful tip when friends begin stacking Lair Hunt farms for Medal crystals/Medal tokens. These are easy to miss if you look away from your device for 2 seconds. Also the game does a terrible job of informing you when a Lair monster is defeated in real time, so watching the simulated fights are mostly a waste (you notice this when you quit a fight half way through and you get a victory screen). Your team is fighting a literal ghost monster. Doing 0% damage in any battle attempt will still net you rewards. Honestly say what you want about Pokeland Legends, but this is one of the more fairer additions to the game for players.
In case you're wondering the difference between a Lair Map and a Lair Map (Gift) is I think I figured it out. The Lair Map (Gift) is received in multiple ways when you play the game, such as a reward from clearing a battle in Monster League. These can be popped at any time at your leisure (I suggest at peak play times like around server resets, Monster Riot/Boss Battle OR stacking with your friends for Medal/Crystal farming). A regular Lair Map is popped instantaneously after defeating a map in adventure (what triggers this I'm not sure, raiding that map, re-clearing that map, some sort of percent chance to drop...?). Here you have to immediately challenge the monster in that two hour window and since it's from the adventure map, is much easier to defeat, and can be done so solo. :)
The AI tends to favor attacking the center Pokemon, so place you least valuable or tankiest HP monsters there to avoid losing your MVP's. Collect Crystals is a obvious way to get easy gold (Minimum 80k gold if you meet all the damage requirements plus whatever damage your team did each round.) Note: the damage done/currency earned is based on the element of the Pokemon's attack, not their Monster element. Ex: CharX is a Dragon/Fire pokemon, but you have to utilize flying attacks for todays' crystal. Using non flying attacks will hurt your game pocket more (but also fly forces you to use either of his two fire type or dragon attacks anyway, I recommend not using him on fly days, use Zapdos.) Also don't auto battle when a pokemons' special meter is near full unless it's the right attack type. AI will forcibly use it's special attack once that yellow meters fills first chance it gets, no matter if the the element is appropriate or not. Also auto Charizard as mentioned above is a bad choice as well. He will favor a dragon attack after fly is used, even if the crystal is weak to fire damage. In short, avoid auto battle unless you're paying close attention. World Series: this ends early for some reason so on your to do list, make sure you get as far as you can. You can exchange your rewards for purple/epic tier clothes/accessories or common to feed to higher accessories. You can purchase said clothing from the "exchange" screen. Note this is the only store that is separate from the general store menu. Try to utilize Explorer missions that have at least 8-10 stones as a rewards. That is what is mainly used to help you lvl up you Explorer Biography passives. For World Boss/Monster Riot use high damage/high speed pokemon or even high speed/mid damage pokemon. More attack attempts per round before a team wipe is the best way to go about earning the most out of these modes. Also Snorlax is a great choice because he sacrifices his health for buffed attack power, and you can only get team wiped after three rounds anyway so... In Monster League/Battle Tower you can simply quit the fight when one or more important Pokemon are eliminated. This allows you to stratergize your team without losing progress or spending more ML currency on revive/heal. When using a heal buff in Battle Tower, it will revive any defeated pokemon with that % increase to health added.
Oh ALMOST FORGOT: you BT coins do not stack day to day, unlike ML coins which do. In other words use all the BT coins you can for buffs even if you know the last/best pokemon you have will be defeated in the subsequent battle. When you restart the next day (and skip your completed floors) you're awarded a base amount of BT coins to spend on buffs immediately. For myself it's 60, and it's 60 at the start of everyday no matter if I spend them all or not (until I beat my best floor of course).
What DOES stack is your BT points/rewards tier. Each battle you earn BT points, and once you hit a new threshold (On the rewards screen) you get....well more rewards. So keep that in mind. I assume this will only reset when a new update is live. This is probably the best part of BT other than the Mastery Passive Tree.
When you have the gold and Mastery coin spend it immediately on you Mastery tree. Since they have added this update I have seen a rather large increase in my overall teams power. I'm sure most veteran players will say here to go after skills with % increase vs +value.
Use weaker Pokemon first in the beginning ranks of ML/BT. Especially the latter since the buffs give you an early advantage.
The game is mainly RNG, so sometimes when fighting non PVP related battles, if you know you're in a losing situation (ex: Pokemon X used Attack Debuff on your CharX) simply restart. Occasionally you won't get hit with that percent chance to freeze/paralyze/crit and it could give you a major advantage to win. Raiding Gym Challenge or Safari consumes no raid tickets. Alternatively, in adventure no energy/vitality is lost when failing a map (0 stars) or quitting out. Keep this in mind so you don't waste VIT on getting a crappy 1-2 star rating on harder maps. Save it, use it to farm something else, and improve your team for a future attempt. When you finally complete and 4 star a Gym Challenge, raid that gym every day instead of manually battling. One, no raid tickets are consumed and two you don't risk failing and getting say, 3 stars with less rewards. * Also I have currently completed 7 1/2 of 8 gyms and hitting "Raid" 30 times to see a results screen each time is ANNOYING. So a way around that is to tap raid on all completed gym teams in succession. You'll see the results for only the last one tapped but you will get all items and Gym points. :) Nice time saver, +1 to this subreddit. (Side note, currently on the Chinese servers there is a "raid all" button of some kind, but their game build is ahead of every one else update-wise 3 months or so).
Like adventure you can challenge/restart a gym battle infinitely until you win with a minimum of one star. When attempting to defeat the next gym battle (especially if I'm a couple lvl's lower then the recommended rating) I put ALL of the best cores I have into that current gym's skill tree. This makes it a bit easier and faster to complete all four battles. I also, obviously invest all my currency/gym points into that tree as well. I'm sure others may not agree with this strat but I personally want to get the gyms complete ASAP so I can then later focus on getting each gym tree to lvl 80.
Gym 4 star complete strategy: Getting 4 stars in this mode is much more difficult than in other modes such as adventure. If you haven't noticed by now, Charizard/Charizard X and his Fly attack are basically the backbone of your game but I noticed that in situations where you should get an easy 4 star with said attack you'll end up with JUST enough meter to fill out the 3 star meter. This even applies if A: you have just enough if not MORE than the recommended team power to defeat the enemy team and B have near the recommended lvl for the Gym kill tree. As I learned through trial & error, it's best to use Pokemon skills that best counter the enemies type. (ex: use an ICE attack for GRASS monster preferably over CharX's OP Dragon Attack.) This game mode is very sensitive to this, so doing exactly that will net you less attempts over time to 4 star that particular battle. This means you have to be less reliable on your top 2-3 pokemon including Char-Char and tag in the appropriate element monster. If you utilize the above gym skill/core trick up above that I mentioned earlier it'll make this strategy much more effective and you'll notice that you can, at the minimum, beat that team at 3 stars ahead of the recommended lvl by at least 3-4 lvls if you're lucky.
As someone who likes to occasionally depend on a much higher lvl Pokemon in Monster League, please if you rent out your monster occasionally remove it and re-add it as any upgrades to that monster (such as new esoteric skills, gears, fusion lvl etc.) doesn't update in real time (maybe I'm wrong about this, anyone can back this up?) Do this with your rented monsters at least twice a week if necessary, or whenever you're ready to collect WHAT THEY OWE YOU. :3 Spacing out your Challenge times for game modes like HoB and EXVS gives you the advantage to maintain or take a higher rank right before the server resets in your timezone. Keep this in mind if there is a tight race for the spot you want or when trying to break a new rank for higher rewards. Also I read this elsewhere on this subreddit (doesn't apply to me cus I'm VIP0 and sit around rank 150 in my HoB) but it's best to draw the clock out during your battles as long as possible because if you defeat your opponent later in real time you'll have a better chance of taking the (say #1) spot after they completed their fight. Thought that sounded like a cool strat to utilize. This is important: Try to farm unlocked (4 stars) gear maps daily. These are usually the last lvl defeated on elite maps. The higher maps (that I'm currently at) can give up to 4-6 quantity of one gear per raid) for 24 VIT. The shortcut to get there would be to hit the gear tab on any monster and hit receiving ways. Each map can be farmed 3 times daily. Best way to get that +8 Dragon Fang. :) When utilizing a Myst ticket it is not necessary to use all three (or more for VIP) catch attempts on that ticket. You can pop a ticket, see the pokemon(s) worth catching or catch one pokemon, then leave allowing your difference of catches to remain. This is great for Advance myst where you can use this strat to participate in multiple weather forecasts. Especially if having two advance tickets at once is rare for you. * With advance myst tickets, unless you happen to 100's of tickets already, do not use your one or two to refresh the list. It takes dozens of refreshes to get the monster (say Lucario) to show and even them IF you catch it, it can have a bad personality. After a while it is easier to farm and refresh basy myst. So try to focus on getting that Zapdos.
Also I noticed there are Pokemon that appear unadvertised in certain weather conditions, they will also remain once the weather has cleared (like Mismaguis and Munchlax). I used the trick above to catch both those guys without popping a new ticket.
Gym is also a GREAT way to farm for baits/bombs for monster myst. I have about 46/56 respectively. This will save you a lot on diamonds in advanced myst.
When receiving your daily government funded Pikachu VIT packs (100 a pop), keep in mind that you have a two hour window to claim the first two, and one hour on the final one (this one is available at the exact same time Monster Riot begins.) Obviously this is relative to your timezone. For me it's 11PM, 5AM and 8AM. Also never let your total VIT cap or over cap it's limit (this is based on your trainer lvl). Spend it ASAP as any available difference can be recharged over time. AKA you're getting more energy back throughout the day. Sometimes I just raid a Safari fusion map will quick if I can't be bothered. :) When farming for friendship items (say the third blue one), raid/battle the first map only. It costs less vitality then the subsequent maps and the pool of higher rarity/unneeded items are smaller. In other words there's a higher % chance you'll receive the specific item you need over something else. If you're lucky to have a semi active guild leader <_< constantly check to see if a Raid boss is popped. CONSTANTLY, especially if they fail to state a specific time and do this randomly. You'll get a bunch of additional Guild points for multiple monsters which is great for your Guild Tech skill passive trees. Personally I make sure I collect all possible currency (from Crystal Collect, Fated Enemy and rewards from mail) raid all my completed 4 star Gyms, open all Gym skill cores from boxes and collect my Battle Tower mastery points and spend/upgrade all of that BEFORE I spend any PVP related challenge times or adventure maps. Basically it makes sense to upgrade your teams overall passive stats making you much stronger then you were a few hours ago. I'd throw Monster League in there to, because if you're lucky to climb in the higher battles you'll might occasionally get a good multi lvl Gear drop or friendship item. Make sure you complete all daily tasks for their XP. Especially since "the story" ends at normal map Dragon Ruins and you will no longer get additional gold/XP for completing any Alone Area maps. :( In case you're low on gold and you want to get the "upgrade a skill 3 times" task, simply spend the least amount on your low lvl or farm-able pokemon if necessary. Speaking of low lvl Pokemon, be privy to which are needed for higher lvl Pokemon bonding ranks. This is a useful way to increase the overall value of your top tier Monsters Attack/Defense/Speed. The only downside is that you'll spend a lot of resources on monsters you don't care for or need but the trade off is very good long term. Mostly you'll be upgrading Fusion lvl, friendship lvl or overall monster lvl for the bond-able monsters. Please use the tier list FAQ to see which monsters are useful and whose Bond lvls should be focused on. Catching and evolving new monsters adds to your Book as well as Explorer Biography which have their own unique passive buffs. You will continue to receive medals from Lair Hunts even after you have maxed out a particular medal. You can sell the extras for 2k gold a piece. :) * You can sell Monster Fruit at 1k a piece but I recommend grinding your Mount lvl to at least lvl 21 to get the passive upgrades from Scizor. I'm still going at lvl 23 and I got Scizor two months ago lol. Pay attention to auction house. It opens every day at the same time. Each auction is in 5 min intervals over the course of an hour (12 items). Items auctioned are not from the player base but from the game server itself. Look out for lvl III/IV esoteric skills, Monster shards as well as gear items. Try to add towards the bet in the very final seconds before it closes. I have yet to buy an auction item, so maybe this one is more for me. :P Pay attention to Chappy events. These are cool because they are usually "farm adventure mode to unlock these event related common/uncommon/rare items" which are then traded in for other useful items such as strike cards (for attribute breakthroughs) flash coins or even advance tickets. Or like in most recent events you can trade in shards for higher lvl Legendary Pokemon. Note for some reason the leftover event items stay in your inventory so if you wonder what that Xmas sock is doing there... Fated Enemy awards/results or received much earlier then the daily server reset time. Keep this in mind if you're in need of some quick coin. Also don't be that guy/gal, send your rival their gift noob. :P Champion League is annoying for me personally. Its been improved recently but playing during peak hours causes a ton of lag and makes you forcefully watch a game that will never time out properly. It's the only real-time PVP mode in the game currently (I get that it's not perfect) but I am not farming 100's of battles for just 15-30 wins, to be matched with higher lvl trainers for crap rewards...sorry rant over. Anyway, just skip your way through 8 battles daily in a row to receive your challenge rewards. It ain't much but it's something. Plus free wins for other people :D (unless your team doesn't suck, then skip this.) __ Known Bugs/Glitches/Annoyances: Most, MOST annoying than the occasional crash is the fact that this app (at least on Android) bypasses your phone's powescreen saver. Now I understand why for half hour related events like Monster Riot/Guild WaBoss but this will seriously not just drain your battery, but turn your phone into a bomb. Ironically if you leave your phone idle on the hub world without doing anything, it gets hotter faster than if you played the game. In short turn off the phone if you're not doing anything of note, or turn off the app. Also, turn off the feature to see others on your server in real time in the settings as it uses less resources. The game crashes, but as far as I know, you won't lose any progress, just time. The frequency of said crashes is based on the most recent update apparently. Game crashes when viewing all pokemon in Monster House (too many monsters?) to avoid this, just quickly select any monster to view, and scroll to whomever you need on the stats screen. The server does not reset in real time, or some features (such as tasks, package/Chappy event etc.) do not reset. - Try these fixes in order Log out and log back in. Play the game for 10-20 minutes and sometimes it will randomly reappear. Check that your version is 1.1.1 or 1.1.0. If not, skip to step 6. Clear the game's cache. Uninstall and reinstall. For Android, install these versions in order: Epic Pet, then APK from the Facebook page, then Spirit Monster. If none of the above will make it appear, give it a few hours and hopefully the issue will fix itself. There is a Monster League bug where the monster you rented turns invisible and even though can be selected, can not fight in any battle. (It just takes up a slot). If you select just that one invisi-monster to fight, the game will automatically consider it a forfeit (and you can't forfeit in ML). This may look funny, but this is a huge waste to 100K+ gold as well as utilizing the strategy of saving your better higher HP monsters for later battles. As I mentioned earlier, it's possible that swapping out your updated rented monster whilst other trainers are using him/her may unintentionally cause this bug. There is also another ML related bug (that got fixed?) where if you don't rent a monster, selecting the 3 for your team forces a visual issue where you can't see who is selected or positioned, sometimes even seeing up to 4 pokemon at once (but the game tells you that only 2 is selected). You enter battle, and 1 or 2 monsters you didn't want appear to fight. B R U H This was mentioned in a recent thread below but there is several issues with chests in Battle Tower. - The game does not prompt "ARE YOU SURE?" (yet it does when spending coin for Buffs) when opening your received boxes after skipping the initial floors. This is obviously a huge waste of Mastery Points and other possible gifts (such as Poke shards) - The game does not give all possible chests rewards. (I had 6, and it only opened two). - Reopening boxes with diamonds also does not distribute awards. This is pretty bad, as this could be from the players personal income/account. https://www.reddit.com/PokelandLegends/comments/5yls36/accidentally_closing_battletower_chest_reward/ I say 1 out of every 20 logins the game forgets your sign in info or suggests binding your binded account. Avoid the "quick play" option, and restart the game before signing in just in case any progress can be lost. A rare bug, in which you complete an adventure map, and the game says you failed. Champion League.....see above rant. And how could I forget, people not being recharged for their diamond/VIP purchases. Or in general not getting their money back. Tsk tsk.
